Residents due Council’s attention for the need to make further road and pedestrian safety improvements around Graceville State School. The school student population currently is 775 students, and this is expected to grow to around 900 in the next few years. The School is currently participating in Council’s active school travel program, and was part of the inaugural program about a decade ago. Active travel is strongly supported by the school community but must be complemented by better warning signage and safe crossing points around the rear of the school. Additional funding for approved footpaths to provide safer off-street pedestrian access is also urgently needed.
We, the undersigned, call on Council to urgently install: 1. school zone safety road markings on Richardson Street and Park Road, Graceville; 2. install safe crossing points at the intersection of Acacia Avenue, Park Road, Waratah Avenue and Richardson Street, Graceville; 3. install safe crossing points at the intersection of Park Road and Verney Road East, Graceville.
