The Lord Mayor has budgeted $50 million in revenue from parking meters and parking fines. The parking meters are located in residential traffic areas and so the new charge for residential parking permits is simply another revenue grab from the same inner city suburbs. We have enough trouble finding parking spaces outside our properties without paying $10-$25 per year do so. This charge is inequitable.
We call on the Lord Mayor to reverse his decision to introduce paid residential parking permits.
