The Kookaburra Queens are famous Brisbane Icons, built in Brisbane for World Expo 88. Much renovation work has been done. We need support for future renovation, tourism and berthing. Commercial boats have been moved several times since 2004, as urban renewal continues, the boats have no secure tenure, we need this for business plans and forward planning.

The petitioners request: 1. A permanent Tourist Boat Facility, to eventually include other commercial boats. A vacant river bed site at Edward Street, near the old Port office is ideal and under the control of the BCC. The uncertainty at present, hinders businesses and the growth of tourism on the Brisbane River and our city. The creations of a dedicated tourist boat terminal, along with an appropriate bus and coach loading bay, is imperative to the growth of tourism and local cruising businesses. 2. Restoration, major works have been done since 2008 by Captain Jim Kelly, more renovation work is required to secure the long term future for the Queens. 3. River access to better serve the people of Brisbane and our attractions.
