We call on the Lord Mayor to remove the $10 charge for resident and visitor parking permits.
As residents living on streets within Traffic Areas we are obligated to apply to Council for a residential parking permit if we have a need to park on the street or we have visitors who also need to park in our street. We already face difficulties finding a kerbside parking space due to the visitors to our areas and the newly introduced parking meters. In some instances we need to park in neighbouring streets as there is no space close to our homes. Many dwellings were built without onsite parking and the character protection on our houses makes it difficult to retrofit them to provide onsite parking. For all these reasons, we rely on the parking permits to enable us to park on the street and so we object strongly to these permits becoming a revenue stream for Council.
