In 2011, the fully-fenced dog off-leash area on Thompson Estate Reserve (the recreation area between Juliette and Ridge streets, near the Pacific Motorway) was severely damaged by flooding. Instead of repairing it, the Brisbane City Council removed it. There is now a large hole in the coverage of dog parks in the Greenslopes-Coorparoo area, forcing dog owners to drive daily to parks that are further away.
This has a number of consequences: 1. opportunities for dogs to be properly exercised are reduced; which leads to 2. increased unwanted behaviors, such as barking; as well as 3. increased local road traffic and 4. increased pressure on car parks near other off-leash areas; plus 5. increased stressful time pressure on dog owners who work for a living.

We therefore respectfully request that Council install a new dog off-leash area (dog park) on the Thompson Estate Reserve in Greenslopes.
