On 21 October LNP Lord Mayor Graham Quirk's $2 million cut to Brisbane's iconic CityCat and City Ferry Services came into effect. The cuts have caused massive disruption to CityCat and City Ferry commuters throughout the city; causing many passengers to be late for work. For example, the Bulimba-Teneriffe Cross River Ferry services in the morning peak (7am to 8:30am) have been cut by more than 50 per cent - from 22 services down to just 10. The reduced services cannot keep up with demand, forcing people back into cars along the heavily-congested Wynnum Road. Our Council should be investing in public transport not cutting public transport services and funding.
We the undersigned call on LNP Lord Mayor Graham Quirk to immediately reverse his $2 million funding cut to Brisbane’s iconic CityCat and City Ferry Services and restore the services that have been cut.
